Poem # 26 Dreams

Dreams

My dog dreams,
his legs twitch,
he is running,
he whimpers softly.
All creatures dream,
though not as men do.

Do trees dream?
they dream tree dreams,
gumtree dreams, acacia dreams.
Do dead men dream in their tombs of stone?

Nostrums give dreamless sleep,
I would rather dream.

I dream of flight,
and safety,
and warmth,
and success.
I can float through three dimensions,
a complete lifecycle through the night,
another reality
where anything is possible.

In dreams you always wake
before catastrophe.

Rest in peace Xena the Warrior princess.
